Sometimes you get those bugs that leave your Quality Assurance department stumped, scratching their heads. When running the game recently, all seemed to be going just fine but over time all the houses simply disappeared.
Seedlings were sleeping in their beds, and then suddenly no more roof over their heads. Imagine stepping out of the shower and realizing you're standing in a field.
All the equipment left in the rain.
What happened: actually this was an issue that was present for a long time, but we haven’t had a deployment running for long enough to encounter it yet. Buildings were very, very slowly losing health over time, until one day they reached destroyed status - since we don’t have any special effects for that or left behind rubble, the houses just went poof without any trace. The stuff of nightmares.
This is interesting because it shows we can factor in entropy into our game: objects get worn down over time, eventually they break and with enough time they become dust. Same goes for houses and there’s no reason why, way down the line, we’ll have houses that need to be renovated and maintained so that Avesta is not populated by ghostly ruins...
