You may not be aware of the fact but we have a team called the Klang Player Insights team, which does what it says on the cover: it provides various types of insights into you, our players. These insights will grow in significance and capacity as we go forward into regular playtests and the like. They’re formidably smart and talented, and recently our Community Manager Sabrina joined forces with Kit, our Senior Data Analyst to look at what you lot, our beloved community, have been talking about and what questions have been floating around.
They then created a lunchtime talk for the entire studio in which this research could be presented and for all Klangers to get an update about our community and to have a discussion about our community.
Why do this?
Well, 1) Because we care about what you have to say!
And, 2) To create discussion points and food for thought as we continue to work on SEED!
So what did their research look like? Mostly it involved looking at our Discord, as well as our social media accounts from the period October 2020 to July 2021. These questions and queries were then broken down into subject groups and analysed.
For this particular lunch talk, Kit and Sabrina decided to focus on, and present your questions, related to two particular topic areas: ‘Architecture’ and ‘Travel’. We went through questions you all posed under these headings and that was very interesting for everyone, especially those on teams working specifically in these areas. Afterwards, we then opened it up and had a general conversation with the Dev team. In general I think it’s safe to say that the team was really invigorated by the whole presentation and had a bunch of questions for Sabrina, trying to find out more about the community and what they will think of what we’re working on right now and what we’ll be announcing next.
This then gave various individuals to give their take on what we will be bringing next to the community, from the creative disciplines to the publishing disciplines. This is important because while we want you to pose questions and queries to us, and we want to answer them, we as a team are very aware of the responsibility to be truthful, honest and - despite our excitement and eagerness - mindful of the right time for all our answers, announcements and hype bombs.
Everyone on the team agreed how exciting it was to get a ‘community check-in’ and so we’ve no doubt we’ll be doing it again.
